Liberals take part in second plenary dedicated to COFOE

European and national representatives came together with citizens on 22-23 October in Strasbourg to discuss key elements of the Conference on the Future of Europe, including citizens’ contributions, the European Youth Event and the Conference digital platform. Ahead of the plenary, the Renew Europe Group organised a Caucus meeting to discuss common liberal priorities.

MR and Open VLD celebrate 175 years of liberalism

Last Friday, Belgian ALDE Party member parties, Open VLD and MR invited high profile international guests to celebrate their 175th anniversary. At the closing of the event, party leaders Egbert Lachaert (Open Vld) and Georges-Louis Bouchez (MR) looked forward to the future of liberalism in Belgium.

ALDE Party co-Presidents at Renew Europe Pre-Summit

On 21 October, ALDE Party co-Presidents Ilhan Kyuchyuk MEP and Timmy Dooley attended the meeting of the liberal political family ahead of the European Council Summit. It was the first meeting hosted by the newly elected group leader Stéphane Séjourné (République en Marche). Rule of law, energy prices and purchasing power were among the issues addressed, with five Prime Ministers, five European Commissioners and the President of the European Council attending the meeting.

The election season for ALDE Party’s Individual Members (AIM) is in full swing! After announcing the nominees for Steering Committee we are launching the names of the three candidates running to become the next delegate to represent the AIM during the ALDE Party Council, ALDE Party’s second-highest decision-making body, in Rome in December.

LYMEC delegates hold first in-person Congress since COVID-19 outbreak

On 22-24 October, the European Liberal Youth (LYMEC), ALDE Party’s youth wing, hosted its first in-person Congress following the outbreak of COVID-19. Delegates came together in Paris to adopt resolutions on topics such as foreign policy, freedom of expression and climate. They also voted on the delegates to represent the organisation at the next ALDE Party Congress.

Renew Europe delivers key elements of revised Motor Insurance Directive

Last week, the European Parliament adopted the revised Motor Insurance Directive (MID), a law governing all vehicle insurance in Europe. This brings new guarantees for better safety on European roads, while avoiding increased insurance premiums and other costs for citizens. These developments are concrete examples of a Europe that works for citizens!
