New EU-China investment deal risks overshadowing EU-US cooperation

On 28 January, the European Liberal Forum hosted a webinar focused on the future relations between the European Union and China, following the negotiations on a Comprehensive Agreement on Investment. Joining the panel with other experts was ALDE President Hans van Baalen who underlined the importance of working together with the new US administration.

Golos holds congress, presents national plan for Ukraine

During a Congress meeting on Friday 29 January, Kira Rudik, the leader of Golos, ALDE party member in Ukraine, presented the "National Golos Plan for 2021" to the delegates from all across the country. The key goals for this year are strengthening security, overcoming the pandemic, implementing judicial reform, and increasing support for small and medium businesses.

Renew Europe CoR: Europe's vaccine strategy under focus on Thursday

At the European Committee of the Regions Plenary session this week, local leaders, including Francisco Igea, Vice-President of Castilla y León region, will discuss Europe’s vaccine strategy with the World Health Organization. The debate will take place on 4 February at 15.30 CET and will be live-streamed.

During the Assembly, LYMEC members discussed their ideas, concerns and questions with the LYMEC leadership. Renew Europe condemns the regressive abortion ban in Poland

The Polish Constitutional Tribunal put into force on 27 January a ruling that will lead to a near-total ban on abortions, making the country's already limited abortion laws even more restricted. Renew Europe condemns this barbarous abortion ban and says it is yet another example of how human rights and the rule of law are backsliding in Poland.
