Vestager and Breton unveil package to strengthen EU’s technological leadership

EU Commission Executive Vice-President Margrethe Vestager and Commissioner Thierry Breton have unveiled a package of initiatives to accelerate Europe's digital sovereignty and ensure resilience and technological leadership in the industrial sector of microchips: ‘European Chips Act’. The package introduces one of the largest-ever EU investment plans in one specific sector.

Liberals discuss future of Europe in London

Last week, The National Liberal Club Europe Forum held a panel debate in London, bringing together leading parliamentarians and experts to address key challenges facing Europe and the prospects for the European Union in the context of the Conference on the Future of Europe. Dita Charanzová explains the benefits and challenges of the Digital Services Act

On 1 February, the Renew Europe Group in the European Parliament hosted a Facebook live interview with ALDE Party Vice-President Dita Charanzová MEP on the Digital Services Act (DSA), recently adopted in Plenary. During the interview she insisted that the DSA is only the first step towards making a safer digital space for EU citizens and businesses while stimulating innovation, growth, and competitiveness.

New Junior Speechwriter & Support Officer joins the team

This month, the ALDE Party Secretariat welcomed a new Junior Speechwriter & Support Officer to the team: Santiago de la Presilla, from Spain. He joins the ALDE Party's Policy and Membership Affairs Unit. Santiago holds a degree in European Studies and has worked as a journalist and policy analyst. Welcome, Santiago!

Renew Europe welcomes new deal on Europol

Renew Europe welcomed the deal struck last week between the European Parliament and the Council of the EU on strengthening Europol's mandate. Thanks to Renew Europe’s efforts, a fundamental rights aspect was secured in the deal, including the establishment of a consultative forum to provide Europol with independent advice on rights matters and other measures to ensure citizens’ safety and the protection of fundamental rights.
