The Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe Party (ALDE Party) is the European political family, bringing together parties with common liberal, democrat and reform ideas from more than 30 European countries. Its role is to strengthen the liberal democrat movement throughout Europe, define a common political vision and communicate it effectively to European citizens.

The Brussels-based Secretariat of the ALDE Party supports the activities of the party, organises its meetings, manages its external communication, and facilitates European policy development and networking amongst liberal parties.

We think that the research plays a critical role in political life. Making insights from public opinion available and understandable for political-decision-making is a key priority for political parties. To accelerate the modernisation of European politics and to further grow the abilities of the ALDE Party Secretariat. We are hiring a Research Analysis Trainee to join the Research & Empowerment Unit, based in Brussels.

 

Research Analysis Trainee

 

THE POSITION

As member of a young and international team, the Research Analysis Trainee will be part of the Research & Empowerment Unit. The main responsibilities of the position are:

  • Supporting regular European wide quantitative and qualitative studies through research design, programming, data analysis.
  • Drafting of briefings and presentations for political decision-makers.
  • Independently managing analysis tasks and providing insight and summaries based on data in publicly available sources.
  • Assist in the organisation of workshops and training seminars.
  • Handle all other tasks needed to support the work of the unit.

REQUIREMENTS

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • Strong quantitative abilities and experience with the statistical programming language R.
  • Particularly, experience creating reports using R Markdown, while not a requirement, would be a strong asset.
  • Ability to communicate technical subjects to non-technical audiences.
  • Experience with research design and statistical methods.
  • Practical experience with quantitative survey design and analysis would be considered a strong asset.
  • Excellent knowledge of English (written and spoken) and both an eye for detail and necessary focus on in-depth analytical work. The knowledge of a second language is an asset.
  • Experience working with SQL databases would be considered an asset.
  • A deep understanding of European politics and party politics is desirable. An affiliation with liberal values and prior campaign experience would be an asset.
  • Good communication skills and experience working in a multi-national environment.

 

The ALDE Party is a registered European political Party and its Staff is working in the frame of employee contracts submitted to Belgian Law.

 

The Research Analysis Trainee will be based in Brussels.
