Linda Curika was elected as the new leader of ALDE Party member Kustība "Par!" in Latvia at a party Congress on 14 September.
Curika has a background in strategic communication, having worked for NATO, and in academia as a lecturer at the University of Latvia.
“Today, more than ever, Latvian politics requires world experience, human liberalism and courage - the core values of our party," said Curika after her election.
"Cities, villages, and neighborhoods must keep up with the times and offer every individual the opportunity for meaningful participation, democracy, and a sustainable everyday life.”
During Congress, members reviewed the results of the European Parliament elections, adopted amendments to the party's statutes, and discussed priorities for the upcoming 2025 municipal elections in Latvia.
Congress elected a new Board and reduced its size from 13 members to three, as Miks Celmiņš and Mārtiņš Steins were re-elected to join Curika in the new Board.
