Last week, ALDE Party and Liberty Global hosted the final Liberal Breakfast of 2020 on the intersection of the green and digital transitions.
The panel consisted of Liberty Global Senior Vice President and Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Manuel Kohnstamm and Renew Europe MEP Svenja Hahn (FDP, Germany). The event was moderated by Jennifer Baker, better known as @BrusselsGeek on Twitter.
The morning's discussion focused on how the EU can best tackle the green and digital transitions, and how important both of these policy areas will be for the post-COVID economic recovery. The panellists also spoke about how the public and private sector can work together to realise the EU's goals for sustainability and digitalisation, as well as how to increase Europe's competitiveness in the digital sphere.
With all the changes that businesses have had to readjust and adapt to this year, it has also been an opportunity to re-evaluate how to diminish our carbon footprint and create new sustainable initiatives, areas in which Liberty Global has been investing throughout the year. With next year bringing big policy changes for both the green and digital transitions, specifically in relation to the EU’s economic recovery plan, continued work and innovation between public and private sectors will be key to ensuring that all European citizens benefit from this transition.
