On 5-6 July in London, Liberal International – the world federation of liberal and progressive democratic political parties – held its 202^nd Executive Committee Meeting. The topics covered during the two-day meeting ranged from climate change to the future of democracy.

Hakima El Haite, President of Liberal International, opened the meeting by sending a message to autocrats and populists: “Liberals are not only speaking, they are winning.”

Representing ALDE Party at the Executive Committee Meeting was ALDE Party President Hans van Baalen. He delivered one of the opening addresses, highlighting the importance of cooperation in the current world:

“For me, Liberal International has always been the opening to the world [...] people have differences but there is more that unites us.”

Van Baalen also applauded the high-level appointments and nominations of liberal leaders after the unprecedented electoral success for Europe’s liberals.
