On 17 May, the world observed International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia (IDAHOBIT) to show support to communities facing discrimination and violence because of their sexual orientation or gender identity.
Liberals keep fighting for a free and tolerant society with respect for every individual and strive to eliminate discrimination wherever and whenever.
While no physical Pride events were organised this year due to the coronavirus outbreak, there were several virtual signs of support and personal stories shared online.
ALDE Party President Hans van Baalen took an important stance on social media, standing by ALDE Party member D66’s leader Rob Jetten. Jetten published a video where he reads out loud some of the insults he has received becasuse of his sexual orientation.
Today D66 leader @RobJetten shared how he regularly is insulted for being gay. We are with him and all who are discriminated for their sexual orientation. We should bring to justice those responsible and protect all our citizens who are discriminated! 🌈#IDAHOT2020 #IDAHOTB2020 https://t.co/DuWZjKwTuL
