Liberals stand up for LGBTI rights at Belgian Pride

On Saturday 19 May, the Belgian Pride in Brussels opened the Pride season in Europe. Thousands of volunteers and participants turned the streets of Brussels in the colours of the rainbow in support of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and intersex (LGBTI) rights.

The Belgian liberals of Mouvement Réformateur (MR) and Open Vld added their party colour of blue to the rainbow to defend freedom and equality with a joint-van during the parade at Belgian Pride under the theme "Kiss me, I'm a Liberal".

We couldn’t be more proud, as that’s exactly what liberals are standing up for in Europe too.

The success of the Belgian Pride came on the same week as the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT) on 17 May, in which our parliamentary group in the European Parliament, the ALDE Group, actively participated with the presentation of the 'Rainbow Dress'.
