On 6 April, the List Marjan Šarec party from Slovenia held its 5th Assembly and presented the party’s list of candidates for the European elections in May.
The list is headed by Irena Joveva, a young journalist and winner of the Debutant of the Year prize, awarded by the Slovenian Press Agency.
In her speech, Joveva emphasized the importance of new faces in Europe and underlined the voice that Slovenia has in Europe.
“We believe in such a Slovenia and such a Europe that offer a home to a person, quality education, a secure job and the ability to achieve his goals," she said.
Slovenian Prime Minister and party leader Marjan Šarec stressed the importance of these elections saying: “If we want to keep the EU, we have to be active.”
Regarding the list, Šarec said: “Our list is made up to our level and with people who believe in our idea. We believe that Europe is a good project but it needs radical changes. We want a Europe of solidarity, an effective Europe and Europe, which will be led by competent people with new patterns of thinking. Even if we get only one MEP, he will be ours and we will know how he thinks.”
