Ľudovít Ódor helped Slovakia with key public finance reforms, the introduction of the euro and the debt brake law. He has served as the Vice-Governor of the National Bank of Slovakia. He completed his studies in Mathematics-Management at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics at Comenius University. Ódor's professional journey includes roles such as a financial market analyst at ČSOB and an economist at the Slovak Rating Agency between 2001 and 2003.
From 2003 to 2005, he was the Chief Economist and Director of the Institute of Financial Policy at the Ministry of Finance. Later, he contributed as a member of the bank board at the National Bank of Slovakia until September 2010, then advised the Prime Minister and Minister of Finance until 2012.
In 2012, he was elected by the parliament as a member of the Council for Budget Responsibility. Since September 2015, he has served as the Vice-President of the Network of Independent Fiscal Institutions EU (EUIFIs) and has been a visiting professor at Central European University in Budapest since 2016.
From January 2017 to February 2018, he was a member of the Supervisory Board of Slovenská sporiteľňa, and in February 2018, he was appointed by the President as the Vice-Governor of NBS.
Ľudovít Ódor has played a significant role in several important economic and political decisions in Slovakia, both in monetary and fiscal areas. He is the author and co-author of many professional publications and reform concepts, including the strategy for the introduction of the euro in tax and pension systems, constitutional law on budget responsibility, or the project of value for money.
