Meet our MEPs: Keskusta and SFP

Following the European elections on 6-9 June, ALDE Party will be represented by a new group of Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) who will lead the fight for liberal values in the next five years.

In this episode of our series, we shine a spotlight on our Finnish member parties Keskusta and SFP, led by Antti Kaikkonen and Anders Adlercreutz.

An agrologist and a teacher of vocational subjects, Katainen was a Member of the Finnish Parliament between 2007 and 2018. She has previous experience in both municipal and regional politics as well as in the national parliament, and at the same time, she has been active in various organisations.

In 2019, she became a Member of the European Parliament. She was re-elected as an MEP for Keskusta following the 2024 European elections. Today, she is still a member of the party’s board and working committee where she represents the party’s European delegation.

Katri Kulmuni (Keskusta)

Field of expertise: Economics and finance

Kulmuni was elected to the Finnish Parliament in 2015 and reelected in 2019, following which she was named Finland’s Minister of Economic Affairs. Shortly after, she also became Keskusta’s leader and took up the role of Deputy Prime Minister of Finland and Minister of Finance in Sanna Marin's Cabinet.

Kulmuni covered other roles, such as being a Member of the Board of Governors of the European Investment Bank (EIB), European Stability Mechanism (ESM), Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Nordic Investment Bank (NIB), and World Bank.

Anna-Maja Henriksson (SFP)

Anna-Maja Henriksson sat in the Finnish Parliament for over 17 years, including almost nine years in various ministerial roles (Minister of Justice, Minister of Åland and Minister of Education) and eight years as the chair of the Swedish People's Party, a role she began in 2016.

After the 2023 parliamentary election, Henriksson was nominated as Finland's Minister of Education. In 2024, she was nominated as one of SFP’s candidates for the European Parliament and was elected as an MEP for the first time.
