Petras Auštrevičius
Field of expertise: Foreign Affairs
Petras Auštrevičius started working at Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a senior specialist, later taking up a position as Foreign Policy Adviser to the Lithuanian Prime Minister. He created a European Committee, becoming its Director-General and chief negotiator for Lithuania’s accession to the EU. In 1999, he started working as Chancellor of the Government.
In 2004, he was elected to the Seimas (Lithuanian Parliament) in the Old Town constituency of Vilnius. In 2006, together with like-minded people, he founded Liberalų Sąjūdis, becoming its first chair. In 2014, he was elected to the European Parliament and he is now serving his third successive mandate.
Dainius Žalimas
Field of expertise: Constitutional and international law
Žalimas was appointed as the chair of the Lithuanian Constitutional Court in 2014. He has experience as an associate professor at the Faculty of Law of Vilnius University, teaching international public law, the law of international organizations, the legal bases of NATO and its activities, diplomatic and consular law.
He is the author and co-author of over 50 laws of the Republic of Lithuania, their amendments, declarations and other legal acts. For his personal contribution to the preparation of the laws of the Republic of Lithuania related to NATO membership and for his participation in consultations and negotiations on joining NATO, he was awarded the Badge of Remembrance of the President of the Republic.
