From 2011, Körner studied social sciences at the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf. In 2014, he started a master's degree in "Political Management, Public Policy and Public Administration" at the NRW School of Governance at the University of Duisburg-Essen, travelling to Brussels for an internship via the Erasmus programme.
From 2013 to 2018, he was state chairman of the young liberals in NRW. In 2017, he was elected as the lead candidate of the Young Liberals of North Rhine-Westphalia and moved into the North Rhine-Westphalia state parliament as the youngest member of parliament at the age of 26. He was allowed to work on the policy change for NRW in the governing coalition of the CDU and FDP. Within the FDP parliamentary group, he was the spokesman for higher education policy.
In November 2018, he was elected as the lead candidate of the FDP-NRW for the 2019 European elections, ending up as the FDP's 4th candidate and being elected to the European Parliament.
In 2022, he became Secretary General of the FDP NRW, while in 2024 he was nominated as the FDP's head of delegation in the European Parliament, being responsible for the group's organisation and strategic orientation in Brussels, as well as a member of the executive committee of the Renew Europe group in the European Parliament.
