On 23 August, NEOS launched its electoral campaign ahead of the upcoming legislative elections in Austria on 29 September.
The party presented a program aimed at reforming Austria after years of crisis which includes proposals such as recruiting 20,000 new teachers, reducing tax burdens on citizens and increasing political transparency.
“NEOS is not like the other parties. Our mission is to finally fulfil people's expectations of politics again,” said party leader and lead candidate Beate Meinl-Reisinger at a launch party in Vienna.
“We are fighting for the best education and all opportunities for all children; for people to have more money left over at the end of the month; we are the only ones fighting to ensure that today's young people still have good and secure pensions and for decency to finally return to politics.
“We now have 37 days until the polling stations close in Austria. 37 days until we have the chance to make a positive new start in Austria together. The chance to have a federal government that stops arguing, that ends the standstill and looks at what the people of Austria need instead of what is best for its own functionaries.”
Austrian citizens will head to the polls to elect all 183 members of the 28th National Council, the lower house of Austria's bicameral Parliament.
