The new ALDE Party Bureau elected at the end of last year at the ALDE Party Congress in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, met for the first time in 2018 on Monday 29 January at the ALDE Party HQ in Brussels under the leadership of President Hans van Baalen MEP.

During the meeting, the Bureau was updated by the Chair of the ALDE Manifesto Drafting Committee, Taavi Rõivas, on the ALDE Party manifesto process ahead of the 2019 European elections. Rõivas provided a draft timeline of the manifesto drafting process and explained that a series of expert hearings will also be organised in cooperation with ALDE member parties and the European Liberal Forum in different regions around Europe over the course of 2018 with the aim to gather external input and guiding ideas for the manifesto drafting.

The Bureau also discussed the political situation in Romania and Poland.
