Launched earlier today, the new video series produced by the ALDE Party Secretariat highlights the unique stories of liberal leaders across Europe, with a special focus on the lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Starting the series is a Belgian federal minister and former MEP Philippe De Backer from ALDE member party Open Vld. Early in the crisis, De Backer was nominated to lead the special taskforce dedicated to fight COVID-19 in Belgium, with responsibilities such as increasing testing capacity and supplying protective gear.

In the video interview, De Backer replies to questions related to his role in countering the pandemic, the taskforce, Belgium’s plan to fight the COVID-19 and more – in addition to revealing what helped him personally during the pandemic.

“At the European level, we need much more collaboration. I think that we are all better off if we continue to work together,” De Backer summarised his thoughts on what’s next for Belgium and the European Union.
