On Saturday 25 November ALDE Party member VVD hosted their autumn conference in Nieuwegein, the Netherlands.
Under the theme 'Do', it was a day full of debates, internal elections and preparations for the upcoming local elections.
During the Congress, VVD elected Christianne van der Wal as their new party president.
Following her election, she said: “I am eager to work with you for the party with best ideas for the Netherlands!”

The Congress also served as an occasion to reflect on the recent local elections in six Dutch municipalities, where a top campaign was run in Leeuwarden, Súdwest-Fryslân, Waadhoeke, Midden-Groningen, Westerwolde and Zevenaar.
Together with campaign manager Bas van ‘t Woud, VVD looked back at these elections and spoke also about the preparations for the local elections on 21 March 2018 in the remaining municipalities.
Dutch Prime Minister and VVD leader Mark Rutte officially closed the Congress with a talk with stand-up comedian Jörgen Raymann. The comedian and the party leader talked for an hour about some important events that have happened in the past months in the Netherlands.
