The deadline of nominations has passed. The ALDE Party secretariat received seven valid nominations, for five places.
Steering Committee chair Julie Cantalou and Steering Committee members Yuri Guaiana and Fabio Bauer decided not to seek re-election, while Chris Pyak and Thalia Ntoka present themselves to run for a second mandate.
In addition, the secretariat received nominations from Sébastien Martin, Ashmita Krishna, Enrico Cappelletti, Robert Schliessler and Jérôme Roche. Find below an overview of all the seven candidates (in alphabetical order) and their short motivations.
|1.||Enrico Cappelletti||For years, I focused on developing Individual Membership both at national and European level, as a Congress delegate in 2016 and now being #readyforthenextstep. Having lived in several EU countries, I believe Europe keeps us safe and must have no internal borders.|
|2.||Ashmita Krishna||True liberalism starts with the individual. I envision empowerment for all Europeans by enabling them to connect with us. For this we need to strengthen our individual members through their organizational connectivity, funding capacity and our number of members.|
|3.||Sébastien Martin||Our goal: to be battle ready for 2019. We have projects which can radically redefine our role within the Party and even inspire the European society. We have clear targets and two years to achieve them; we need your support to make it happen!|
|4.||Thalia Ntoka||Empowering our membership through our delegates and our blog, gave us the tools to strengthen our presence and our voice. Our next step should be our official role within the party. Our strategy plan is ready. Being a part of this Steering Committee, will be a huge honour.|
|5.||Chris Pyak||Chris Pyak is currently a member of the Steering Committee and has recently been elected Council Delegate. Chris helped to grow membership, organised the pan-European conference in Düsseldorf and developed our strategy. Now he would like to implement the strategy. Therefore, Chris asks for your vote to re-elect him to the Steering Committee. #readyforthenextstep|
|6.||Jérôme Roche||Passionate about innovative ideas and people, I have experience in working with digital entrepreneurs across Europe. I run for the Steering Committee to renew what being European and Liberal really means. We need to define what a liberal vision of a good community of shared values and civic virtues stand for and I am eager to launch the debate!|
|7.||Robert Schliessler||Being active for the Individual Membership since its cradle, I believe we are now #ReadyForTheNextStep. Let's shape us into a real European political party! A true liberal party that inspires European society and triggers a broad political debate, both within ALDE Party and beyond.|

Since 2014, a Steering Committee exists. The Steering Committee for the individual members in ALDE Party is the elected body, consisting of five members, representing the individual members and steering their work across Europe. It supports all individual members in organising themselves at local, regional and national level in order to become more active in favour of liberal principles. Every two years, online elections for a new Steering Committee are held, ahead of the ALDE Party Congress. You can read more here about the current Steering Committee.
