Following today's announcement by Commission President-elect Jean-Claude Juncker, the ALDE Party is delighted that Liberals have been recognised as an important, positive driving force and have been given two Vice Presidencies in the European Commission and some key portfolios.
Sir Graham Watson travels to Moldova on Saturday 13 September for a joint International Conference on “Liberalism and European Integration”. Departing for Kiev on Monday, he will participate in a conference aimed at discussing the Liberal view on a European policy regarding the situation in Ukraine.

The 35th ALDE Party Congress will take place from Thursday 20 to Saturday 22 November 2014 at the Centro de Congressos de Lisboa, Portugal. Next week, all associate members will receive an invitation which will include information on how to participate in the ALDE Party Congress in Lisbon.
ALDE Party President Sir Graham Watson will this week be awarded the Freedom of the City of Gibraltar – the Rock’s highest honour – at a ceremony to the be held on the Rock’s National Day, Wednesday 10 September.
Halfway into the Italian EU Presidency, ALDE Party and FNF Europe organised yet another successful Liberal Breakfast to allow for a midterm review of the 11th Italian EU Presidency. Permanent Representative of Italy to the EU, Stefano Sannino noted that “institutional transition cannot stop Europe.”
Last week, associate individual members held meetings in Austria, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. Associate members steering committee chair Julie Cantalou visited members in Austria and discussed European Liberalism.
