Last weekend, Polish citizens in a range of cities and regions went to the polls for the second round of local and regional elections. ALDE Party member Nowoczesna, led by Katarzyna Lubnauer, is now the fourth biggest force in the country's regional assemblies and the third biggest force in Warsaw.
Among the electoral successes of Nowoczesna, we should highlight that their party's mayor candidate in the city of Wrocław was already elected in the first round. Their mayor candidate in Nowa Sól got 79% of votes. The party has the youngest mayor in Poland, will have deputy mayors in Warsaw and Poznań, to name a few major cities, as well as the President of the city council in Łódź.
In these elections, Nowoczesna ran in a coalition with the Civic Platform (EPP). As Civic Coalition (Koalicja Obywatelska), they got 27% of votes and took second place nationwide.
