On 26 September, Jan-Christoph Oetjen MEP (FDP, DE) was elected as the European Liberal Forum’s new President at the Autumn General Assembly in Florence, Italy.
Oetjen, a Member of the European Parliament since 2019, is a member of the European Parliament Committee on Transport, serving as Renew Europe’s coordinator for that policy area.
He takes over from Hilde Vautmans MEP (Open VLD, BE), who thanked members after having served as ELF President for the past four years.
🙏We want to thank our outgoing board members for their significant contribution in ELF’s work over the past two years.

“In the last four years, ELF managed to renew itself, not just as a political foundation but as a distinguished think tank in its own right,” said Vautmans.
“I want to express how incredibly proud I am of all the work we have accomplished together. We managed to overcome many difficulties and grow significantly, laying the groundwork for the ELF of today and tomorrow.”
ELF’s General Assembly also elected Lucia Yar MEP (Progresívneho inštitútu, SK) as First Vice-President, Marco Mariani (FLE, IT) as Second Vice-President and Milosz Hodun (Projekt:Polska, PL) as Treasurer.
New MEPs Jeannette Baljeu (VVD, NL) and Brigitte van den Berg (D66, NL) were among those elected as board members.
🎉 Congratulations to the newly elected board of @EurLiberalForum!
