Party Leader: Dorin Chirtoacă

Anatol Șalaru founded the party in 1993 as “Party of Reform” (Partidul Reformei). In 2005, party members decided on the party's current naming of Liberal Party (Partidul Liberal) and Mihai Ghimpu was elected leader of the Party. The Liberal Party joined the coalition in 2009 until 2019. Dorin Chirtoacă is the leader of the Liberal Party since 2018.
