Progresívne Slovensko

Party Leader: Michal Šimečka

Progressive Slovakia was founded in 2017 before electing Ivan Štefunko as their Party Chairman. At the 2019 Presidential elections Zuzana Čaputová was Progressive Slovakia’s candidate and won a two-round vote with nearly 60% giving a clear counterweight to the right-wing populists and becoming the first female President in the history of Slovakia. At the 2022 party Congress, MEP and European Parliament Vice-President Michal Šimečka was elected as party leader taking over from Irena Bihariová, who stepped down to Vice-President of the party.
