Convening virtually over a week from 27 February to 7 March, the XIX Congress of Italian Radicals concluded with the re-election of its leadership and Massimiliano Iervolino as Secretary.
The Congress, with its theme ‘let's build a civil, democratic and ecological heritage’, brought together more than 1,000 delegates over its duration and was the first Congress held entirely online by an Italian political party.
In its general motion adopted by the Congress, the party affirmed its actions for the years to come and in particular denounced how the global pandemic has been an alibi for many governments to erode civil and political rights of citizens, restrict fundamental freedoms and has consolidated some undemocratic regimes.
