Renew Europe welcomed the adoption of a resolution backing a new European industrial strategy on 16 February. The Group played a pivotal role, despite attempts by the extremes to undermine efforts to reach a broad agreement to help industry through the unfolding geopolitical crisis.
Renew Europe calls on both the Council and European Commission to deliver a truly European response to the US Inflation Reduction Act that ensures competitiveness, strives to develop industrial capacity throughout the EU and protects the Single Market’s integrity, while ensuring that jobs remain in Europe and Europeans are in possession of adequate skills to cope with the current challenges.
Stéphane Séjourné, President of Renew Europe, said:
“The Parliament has adopted a strong position for a new European industrial policy, due to the hard work of Renew Europe. This is a victory for pro-European centrists. We will be a strong partner in the fight to build a new, green, industrial strategy that delivers for EU citizens.”
