Sigrid Friis became a member of Radikal Ungdom in 2013 and in 2015 got a seat on the executive committee responsible for International Cooperation. In addition, she has engaged in international cross-party cooperation through the Nordic Centre Youth Federation (NCF), European Liberal Youth (LYMEC) at European level and the International Federation of Liberal Youth (IFLRY) at global level.
She took over from Victor Boysen as national chairman of the youth party in August 2017. As national chairman, she has, among other things, brought Radikal Ungdom into the work with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals. In September 2018, she was appointed dialogue ambassador for the Danish Youth Council, working actively with young people to promote understanding across cultures and will work with the unofficial 18th Sustainable Development Goal: "Empower, involve and engage young people".
In 2020, Sigrid Friis, Freja Fokdal, Maria Gudme and Camilla Søe initiated #enblandtos. The movement #enblandtos refers to 322 women across political parties who signed an opinion piece on sexism in Danish politics. #enblandtos is seen as part of the second wave of the #MeToo movement in Denmark, which was started by a speech by Sofie Linde at the Zulu Comedy Gala.
She is a former chairman of Radikal Ungdom and a blogger for Altinget and BT, and sits on the executive committee of Radikale Venstre.
She has won the "Woman of Europe" award from the European Movement International and the European Women's Lobby for her work in engaging young Danish people in Europe.
