The 2019 European elections were a landmark in terms of voter turnout and a victory for liberal and pro-European forces around Europe. But the question in everyone’s mind now is, what’s next for Europe?
Discussing this on 27 May was Team Europe’s Violeta Bulc, who took part in a panel discussion organised by Politico together with other high-level Brussels figures and political experts.
“Who won this election? The EU,” said Bulc. “I am grateful for all the voters who came out and sent a strong message that we want the EU. Yes, we need to work on it, but the EU is our future.”
“Who won the largest number of new seats compared to the previous elections? ALDE,” she continued, highlighting the important work Team Europe has done throughout the campaign, reaching and talking to as many people as possible.
“Let’s be innovative, let’s dare to think with our own framework and let’s create the European democratic framework within which Europeans can come through with what they stand for,” she concluded.
