OUR VISION
We want to be the natural home for citizens with European liberal values
OUR MISSION
Our mission with the Friends of ALDE programme is to create a community of individual supporters in a well-functioning network, where citizens all around Europe on equal level, regardless of country of origin, can engage with the liberal European project and politicians directly and have their voice heard on European issues that affect them. We want to create a safe, positive space where you can feel part of a liberal movement which shares your political values, and where you can debate with likeminded individuals on the European project
OUR VALUES
- We are honest
- We are committed
- We are inclusive
- We want to leave the world better than we found it
OUR CORE PRINCIPLES TO FRIENDS OF ALDE
Official community spaces - The spaces we own, operate and moderate are our official Twitter Channel, Facebook Group and Forum. All other groups that may be set up with our brand and logo are not official are not moderated by our panel of moderators.
COMMUNITY GUIDELINES
Creating positive communities where our supporters engage with one another is vital to us. This is why we have developed a set of community guidelines. The list below outlines what we stand for and how we expect our community of Friends to interact with other each other, and with other stakeholders. These values are so important to us that breaches of our guidelines will result in termination of your Friends status.
We believe in treating others with respect - Harassment or hateful conduct will not be tolerated. This includes but is not limited to discrimination, bullying, hate speech, or any targeted attack on the basis of race, ethnicity, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, marital status, citizenship, national origin, or socioeconomic status. Comments that violate this policy posted to any of our official online spaces will be deleted, hidden, and the user in violation will be banned immediately.
We believe in engaging in healthy, respectful discussions - Respectful conversations help us understand the world, and each other better. We understand that not everyone shares the same experiences and beliefs – and that is part of what makes our community so much fun. However, it is important that we are able to have discussions without engaging in harmful behaviour.
We believe in establishing healthy boundaries - Making friends online can be a fantastic experience, but it is essential to be mindful of the type of information you share. If someone in the online community makes you feel unsafe please practice good social media self care and block, report, and/or contact the appropriate site administrators. If this happens on our official Friends of ALDE online spaces, please contact us at XXX.
We believe in having fun - We encourage you to interact with others in our community – Friends of ALDE exists for our supporters to have fun and to bring you joy! It’s also important though that we all work together towards making our community safe for others to navigate. Listen to each other, learn from each other, and create fun in a way that doesn’t harm anybody else.
We believe all who follow these community guidelines are welcome here! Whether you are a seasoned liberal or you are entirely new — you belong here. We encourage you to engage (or not engage) with our stories in whatever way feels best for you.
ACCOUNTABILITY AND REVIEW PROCESS
We work with a panel of volunteer moderators who help ensure our online communities respect our values and core principles. These moderators are also Friends of ALDE who do not hold elected positions and are not members of the ALDE Party secretariat. They give their time and energy to making our online spaces fun and engaging, so please make their job easier and maintain respectful communication at all times.
Breach of our values or community guidelines will result in you being removed from our Friends of ALDE community immediately. Any decision to terminate your Friends status will be final and will include no right to appeal.
We work with a consultant on GDPR matters to ensure our Friends of ALDE community and communication from us at the ALDE Party secretariat stays GDPR compliant at all times.
We will periodically review this statement and our community guidelines to ensure that they are relevant and stay up-to-date with community standards.
