On 21-22 September, ALDE Party member Venstre in Norway launched their campaign towards next year’s parliamentary elections at a party Congress in Lillestrøm.
In a keynote speech, Venstre leader Guri Melby vowed the party is ready to lead Norway forward towards a greener, more inclusive and internationally engaged society.
She emphasised that the party is equipped to meet the challenges ahead by highlighting Venstre's focus on delivering policies that bring about real change for both people and the environment.
“It is not useful to just replace the people who govern. We also have to change the policy being pursued. We have a climate policy that works, but we must be empowered to implement it,” said Melby.
“We are going to the election for change for the better. Not nostalgia and outdated solutions. We are going to the polls on the basis that the future will be brighter than the past: for tomorrow to be brighter than yesterday.”
Venstre’s priorities include working to strengthen Norway's cooperation with Europe, and to make Norway a member of the EU, drastically reducing greenhouse gas emissions and ensuring that Norway strengthens its support for Ukraine's fight for democracy.
In a video message, ALDE Party Vice-President Kira Rudik addressed the over 300 attending members and thanked the party for their steadfast support to Ukraine.
The parliamentary elections in Norway are scheduled to take place on 8 September 2025.
