ALDE party member Venstre, led by Trine Skei Grande, has joined Norway’s government. The news comes after negotiations that led to the extension of the government led by Prime Minister Erna Solberg. The coalition now features three political parties, the centre-right Hoyre, the Progress Party and Venstre.
Venstre will be in charge of three ministries. Trine Skei Grande has become Minister of Culture, while Ola Elvestuen has become Minister of Climate and Environment and Iselin Nybø has become the new Minister of Research and Higher Education. In addition, several of Venstre’s people have also been appointed as State-secretaries, including an alumni of our programme European Women Academy, Rebekka Borsch.
Commenting on the entry of Venstre into government, Trine Skei Grande said: "It is my job to take Norway in a greener and more social-liberal direction, and I've got a strong crew with me on the team.”
Skei Grande continued: "For Venstre, knowledge and the environment are the most important issues for the future, and I am pleased that we now have two ministers who really are eager to work on these topics of knowledge and care for the environment. I am absolutely sure that Ola and Iselin will achieve good results in the fields they are now responsible for. “
