Ahead of upcoming municipal and county council elections in September 2023, members of Venstre, ALDE Party member in Norway, came together on 15-16 April for a party conference to set out their election promises.
During the event, party leader Guri Melby spoke on priorities such as the importance of private sector cooperation for the green transition:
“We know that a powerful and innovative business community will be the key to finding a way out of the climate crisis.”
“Smart, local investments will contribute to increased activity, more attractive workplaces and living communities”, she added, highlighting the need for enhanced EU-Norway collaboration on key areas for European strategic autonomy, such as space and satellite technology.
Party members agreed on four election promises to:
- Make public transportation more affordable
- Ensure protection of local natural areas
- Prioritise education to increase motivation of students and teachers
- Adapt public services to become more business-friendly and service-oriented
The conference also included an exchange of best practices with Klaudija Grabauskaitė and Matas Lasauskas from ALDE Party member Liberalų sajūdis in Lithuania.
