On 13 May, Guy Verhofstadt of Team Europe sat down for an interview with Euronews in their Raw Politics show.
With a focus on the upcoming European elections as well as the future of Europe, Verhofstadt responded to questions posed in social media as well as by a group of university students who were following the interview live.
“People are not against the European dream. People are not against the European project. People are against the way we translate this European project into the European Union of today,” Verhofstadt said addressing the question on increased nationalism and populism.
Brexit was also widely discussed during the interview, with Verhofstadt expressing optimism on the situation: “It’s true that the Conservatives are penalised by the new Brexit Party, but on the other hand you see a concentration of pro-European voters in the Lib Dems.”
“The world is going so fast today, going with little steps forward is not enough,” Verhofstadt summarised.
