Liberal International, in cooperation with the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE Party), the Africa Liberal Network (ALN), the Council of Asian Liberals and Democrats (CALD), and the International Federation of Liberal Youth (IFLRY) would like to invite you to participate in our event Women, Power and the Pandemic: A Liberal Roundtable on 4 June, 10.00-14.00 CEST.
This event will bring together liberal women from across the world, to exchange views and share experiences of how to thrive as a female politician today.
Many challenges that women in politics face are the same across the globe. Women face different standards than men, are judged more harshly, are questioned due to traditional family roles, and face more online harassment than their male counterparts. They also struggle to reach party funding and other support to a greater extent.
Is COVID19 just another barrier for female political candidates to overcome? Is this crisis in fact showing once and for all that female leadership is more effective than male leadership?
