Young liberals gather for LYMEC Autumn Congress

On 8-10 November, young liberals from all over Europe gathered in Warsaw, Poland for the Autumn Congress of the European Liberal Youth (LYMEC).

Over the course of the three-day event, over 150 participants met to discuss resolutions on critical topics such as security, housing and mental health, and engaged in insightful discussions with fellow youth organisations and representatives.

Delegates were addressed by various keynote speeches, including ALDE Party Vice-President Jouni Ovaska (Keskusta, FI) and former LYMEC Secretary General Bàlint Gyévai, who was succeeded by Even Diot last month. Even’s nomination as Secretary General was confirmed by the delegates in unanimity.

ALDE Party President Svenja Hahn MEP (FDP, DE), who served as LYMEC President between 2018-2020, addressed participants in a video message.

"Our movement, our liberal Europe has never needed you more. The path forward will not be easy, but you, as the young liberals, have the power to be the leading voices for Europe that remains united and strong," said President Hahn.

"My message to you is this: stand united. We need your passion, your energym and your vision for a strong, liberal Europe."

Aleksandra Kot (Nowoczesna, PL), who earlier this year became the youngest Member of the Polish Sejm and was awarded with the European Liberal Forum’s Rising Star Award at the ALDE Party Congress in October, also addressed liberal youth during the Plenary session.

Young liberals will next meet at the LYMEC Spring Congress in Zagreb, Croatia in spring 2025.
