ALDE Party Member Istarski Demokratski Sabor (IDS) have announced that Loris Peršurić is the new party president at the age of 40 after he was previously acting party president.
The 40th Electoral Assembly of the Istrian Democratic Assembly took place in Novigrad, Croatia. The Assembly was attended by 228 trustees, with Loris Peršurić receiving 180 votes and becoming the new president of IDS. Trustees chose between him and Valter Boljunčić.
After the election, the new president, Loris Peršurić thanked the fiduciaries and members for their trust and said that IDS is entering a new chapter with faith, experience and unity. He addressed the crowd:
"IDS is part of my political identity, and its people and values are my driving forces. I take on this role with full responsibility - towards the members who have shown me their trust, but also towards all the citizens of Istria, Liburnia and Kvarner, who rightly expect IDS to remain a strong, organized and connected party,"
"Today we have shown that different opinions are not an obstacle, but a strength. IDS always fosters dialogue, respect and togetherness - and that is why this is a victory for IDS, not for individuals. From our branches and affiliates, through the Associations of Affiliates to today's Parliament, every step was a confirmation of IDS's democratic tradition.”
