ALDE Party Data Protection and Privacy Notice

The ALDE Party is committed to protecting your personal information in full compliance with European data protection laws, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (EU) 2016/679. This policy applies to the collection, processing, and use of personal data relating to the ALDE Party’s members and the general public by the ALDE Party.
This policy also applies to campaigns we run on third party social media websites such as Facebook, X and Instagram, which we may use to gather information about you. Any information stored on the ALDE Party’s platform or hosted by Odoo is treated as confidential. Odoo’s privacy policy, which outlines how information is handled on behalf of the ALDE Party, is available at https://www.odoo.com/privacy.
All information is stored securely and accessed by authorised personnel only. The ALDE Party implements and maintains appropriate technical, security and organisational measures to protect personal data against unauthorised or unlawful processing and use, and against accidental loss, destruction, damage, theft or disclosure.

Data Protection Officer
As used herein, the term “personal information” means information that specifically identifies an individual (such as name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, or credit card number) and information about the individual or their activities that directly links to information that can identify a person. Personal information does not include anonymous or “aggregate” information, which is data we collect about the use of the websites or about a group or category of service users, from which individual identities or other personal information has been removed.
Personal information may be collected in several ways when you visit our websites. We collect certain information you voluntarily provide to us, such as when you sign a petition, make a donation, send us an email or sign up to receive email updates, fill out a form, request information, or apply for a job vacancy. Such information may include personal details, such as your name, address, e-mail address, phone number, and credit card information.
Personal and demographic information may also be collected if you provide such information in connection with leaving comments, posting blog comments or other content, and sending an email or message to us. Legal Basis for Processing Sensitive Data
The ALDE Party processes sensitive personal data, including political opinions, based on the following legal bases under Article 9 GDPR:
- Explicit Consent: We obtain explicit consent from individuals for the specific purpose of processing their sensitive data.
- Exception for Non-Profit Bodies: Acting under our capacity as a non-profit organization, we process sensitive data for our current or former members or other contacts in accordance with the exception provided under Article 9(2)(d) GDPR.
- Legal Claims: Processing is necessary for the establishment, exercise, or defense of legal claims.
- ·Substantial Public Interest: Processing is necessary for reasons of substantial public interest, based on applicable EU or Member State law.

If you give us consent to contact you, for example by ticking a check-box on a petition or survey, the ALDE Party may use the information you provide to contact you. By providing your data to us and by ticking the consent box, you agree to us making contact with you in the future by email, mail or phone. You have the right to withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us at gdpr@aldeparty.eu.
ALDE Party only forwards your data if this is allowed by Belgian or European law. We work particularly closely with certain service providers, for example with technical service providers. These service providers, such as Odoo or Stripe, may generally only process your data on our behalf under special conditions. Where we use them to process orders, the service providers only receive access to your data in the scope and for the time period required for the provision of the relevant service. We may share personal information as follows:
- To report required information under the EC Regulation No 1141/2014 of the European Parliament and of the Council, on the regulations governing political parties at European level and the rules regarding their funding to collect (and disclose) the details of the donors and the donations received from each donor, if they exceed EUR 1500 per year;
- When we believe in good faith that we are lawfully authorised or required to do so or that doing so is reasonably necessary or appropriate to comply with the law or legal processes or respond to lawful requests, claims or legal authorities, including responding to lawful warrants or court orders;
- To service providers who perform functions on our behalf and who require access to such information to provide us with services, such as payment processing, data analysis, email delivery, hosting services, customer service, and marketing assistance. These service providers are only provided with the information they need to perform their specific function and are required to protect your personal information.
We are not responsible for the actions of any service providers or other third parties and we encourage you to become familiar with their privacy practices before disclosing information directly to any such parties.

All personal information you provide to us is stored on our secure servers (or those of our service providers) behind firewalls. We may store, retrieve, access, and transmit your personal information to EU and non-EU countries. Any payment transactions will be performed using our third party payment processors, who will use appropriate security procedures.
You may unsubscribe from receiving text messages, email updates and newsletters by following instructions in those text messages and emails. Please note that we may still send you other types of emails, such as emails about your use of our websites, or use information as otherwise described in this policy, even if you unsubscribe from receiving email updates and newsletters.
Opting Out
When you give us your email address (for example, by following, liking, or linking your account to our Services on another website), you agree that we can use it to send you important notices about our services, including legal notices, instead of using postal mail. You also agree that we can send you notifications about activity on our services to the email address you provided, based on your privacy settings. Retention and deletion
The ALDE Party will not retain data longer than is necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected or as required by applicable laws or regulations.
You may, at any time, request that we correct personal data that we hold about you which you believe is incorrect or inaccurate. You may also ask us to erase personal data if you do not believe that we need to continue retaining it (sometimes called the right to be forgotten).
Please note that we may ask you to verify any new data that you provide to us and may take our own steps to check that the new data you have supplied us with is accurate. Further, we are not always obliged to erase personal data when asked to do so; if for any reason we believe that we have a good legal reason to continue processing personal data that you ask us to erase we will tell you what that reason is at the time we respond to your request.
Right of Access
You may, at any time, request access to the personal data that we hold which relates to you (sometimes called a subject access request).
This right entitles you to receive a copy of the personal data that we hold about you. It is not a right that allows you to request personal data about other people, or a right to request specific documents from us that do not relate to your personal data.
Right to Portability
Where you wish to transfer certain personal data that we hold about you, which is processed by automated means, to a third party you may write to us and ask us to provide it to you in a commonly used machine-readable format.
Right to Lodge a Complaint
If you believe that our processing of your personal data infringes data protection laws, you have a legal right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority responsible for data protection. You may do so in the EU member state of your habitual residence, your place of work, or the place of the alleged infringement. Acceptance of these Conditions
We assume that all visitors of our website and users of our platform have carefully read this document and agree to its contents.
