Council delegates adopt resolutions on Hungary, Venezuela & European foreign policy


During the meeting of the ALDE Party Council in Ljubljana, the Council adopted five urgency resolutions relating to a number of pertinent and recent development, such as the political situation in Hungary, Bulgaria and Venezuela.

LibDems increase their seats by 50% in UK General Election


On 8 June the UK held snap general elections. Theresa May gambled and lost, and her mandate for an extreme version of Brexit has been rejected by the British electorate. The UK Liberal Democrats won 50% more seats and returned 12 MPs to Parliament.

ALDE expresses concern about continuing threats to democracy in Hungary


On Tuesday 13 June Hungary passed a law which has been seen as attempt to silence government-critical NGOs. ALDE again condemns this move and the continuing desconstruction of democracy and rule of law in Hungary under Viktor Orbán.
