On 18 April, the Bright Armenia Party convened its 6th Extraordinary Congress, marking a key step in the party’s strategic positioning ahead of the upcoming elections.

During the Congress, three key decisions were confirmed:

  • Bright Armenia officially announced its participation in parliamentary elections scheduled for June 2026. A decision that reflects firm commitment to re-enter the political arena with renewed energy and responsibility.
  • The party approved the first 30 candidates of its proportional electoral list, presenting a team that combines political experience, professional competence and a clear reform-oriented vision.
  • Bright Armenia reaffirmed its unwavering adherence to European values - rule of law, human rights, democracy and accountable governance - as the foundation of its political identity and future agenda.

The Congress marked a strategic moment in the party’s political trajectory.

Following the Velvet Revolution, Bright Armenia became the only party in the South Caucasus to secure a liberal faction in the National Assembly. But after subsequent political developments, including the aftermath of the war and the 2021 elections, this trajectory was disrupted.

Today, Bright Armenia enters the 2026 elections with a clear objective: to return to the National Assembly and restore a principled, pro-European voice within Armenia’s parliamentary system.

The party also presented its electoral team for the upcoming elections, including the top of its proportional list:

  • Edmon Marukyan, Party Leader
  • Karpis Pashoyan, Historian
  • Shushan Avagyan, Anti-corruption expert and political scientist

The upcoming elections therefore represent more than a political milestone – they are an opportunity to rebuild institutional representation and strengthen democratic pluralism in Armenia.
