ALDE Party member Coalition for Unity and Welfare (CUB) held its second party Congress on 31 May in Chișinău, Moldova, reiterating its strong commitment to supporting Moldova’s EU accession.
Over 600 members participated in the event and adopted a new political programme aimed at building a party with a social-liberal orientation through nine specific commitments.
These include pursuing more affordable energy, supporting local producers, ensuring access to quality education for all, implementing efficient health services and depoliticising the justice system.
A final resolution entitled "Towards the people and the national spirit of our liberal project" summarised the discussions held over the Congress and set as a central direction the creation of a distinct and credible liberal pole in Moldova.
"Liberal patriotism is the strategic direction we have chosen for 2025 as our guiding doctrine. This doctrine is based on the principles of liberal democracy, emphasising respect for fundamental rights and freedoms alongside a minimal state. CUB represents the interests of individuals with dual or multiple citizenships," said CUB leader Igor Munteanu.
CUB members also unanimously elected four new Vice-Presidents and Iulii Turcanu as the party’s new Secretary General.
