On 20 September, ALDE Party member Gibanje Svoboda gathered in Koper for their fifth party congress under the banner “Slovenija si upa naprej!” (Slovenia dares to move forward).

Dr. Robert Golob was unanimously re-elected as party president and endorsed a programme focused on social justice, knowledge-driven growth and building a resilient, green economy.

In his keynote speech, the Prime Minister underlined the courage and unity that have defined the movement since its founding:

“When times are tough, we stand together. We build Slovenia’s future with knowledge, innovation and social justice. When we work, we do it for the future of Slovenia and the Slovenian people”.

He pointed to major achievements of the past three years, including the innovative 80–90–100 retirement model, strengthened public healthcare, long-term care reform and new protections for whistle-blowers and media freedom.

Speaking via video message, ALDE Party President Svenja Hahn said:

“Since 2022, you have taken on real responsibility for Slovenia’s future. Both in Ljubljana and in Brussels, your group has provided reliable leadership, and in government you’ve focused on making change people can feel — from affordable housing to strengthening public healthcare. These are practical, liberal solutions that improve daily life.”
“You’ve also kept Slovenia moving forward on Europe’s great projects — the green and digital transitions — showing that resilience and competitiveness can go hand in hand with solidarity,” she added. “As liberals, we know our values matter most when they are tested.”
“Populists will offer easy slogans, but it is us liberals that offer solutions. Your record in government proves it.”

Looking ahead, Dr. Golob set out four pillars for Slovenia’s future: a strong welfare state, a knowledge-based society, economic success and national security and resilience. Record investments in research and education, the launch of major green projects and international partnerships and rapid disaster-response capabilities demonstrate, he said, how Slovenia is preparing for global challenges while deepening its European commitment.

Party Vice-Presidents Klemen Boštjančič and Sara Žibrat highlighted financial stability as a means to invest in people, support for young generations and Slovenia’s pro-European orientation.

Parliamentary elections will take place in Slovenia before the end of April 2026.
