Oleksandr Korniienko is ready to steer the party into a new chapter as he becomes the new party leader.
Korniienko became the new leader of ALDE Party member Servant of the People last month, succeeding Olena Shuliak, who guided the party since Russia’s full-scale invasion. Continued strong leadership is critical for Ukraine and its democratic future.
“The EU’s decision on financial assistance is not just about numbers, it is a belief in Ukraine, in our resilience, and in our shared victory,” Korniienko said, thanking European partners for their constant support.
Shuliak leaves an admirable legacy. “Leading a party during a full-scale war is a unique experience. I am proud of what we achieved, from supporting our armed forces to empowering thousands of volunteers and activists across Ukraine,” she reflected.
Under her leadership, the party expanded nationwide offices from 34 to 168 and directed over 600 million hryvnias to defence and humanitarian efforts, constantly building resilience amid unprecedented times.
The ALDE Party praises both leaders’ capabilities. President Svenja Hahn MEP said, “Olena’s leadership strengthened Ukraine’s voice in Europe. We welcome Oleksandr and look forward to continuing our close cooperation. European liberals will stand with Ukraine as it works toward a just and sustainable peace.”
Korniienko inherits a party embedded in the European liberal network, with links to policy initiatives, research support and empowerment programmes. His leadership strengthens the party as a bridge between Ukraine and Europe.
The Servant of the People party shows a clear commitment to democratic values, and with the ALDE Party's full backing, its leaders are shaping a more resilient path forward for Ukraine
