ALDE Party President Hans van Baalen issued a statement on the situation in Eastern Ukraine earlier this month. More than 100,000 Russian troops are deployed at the Eastern Ukrainian border, destabilising the region.

President van Baalen has also called for all EU leaders to support the efforts led by France and Germany through the Normandy Process, involve the United Kingdom and the United States in the discussions and consider imposing further sanctions on Russia if no steps are taken.
