Halfway through its six-month presidency, it is time to evaluate Finland’s course of action towards its proclaimed priorities: fully protecting citizens’ security, strengthening common values and the rule of law, the EU's competitiveness and social integration, as well as its position as the world's leading state actor in climate.
Nevertheless, the European Union faces a number of internal and external challenges that need to be tackled together in a constructive manner, in order to pursue these goals. Apart from evergreens like Brexit, these include the need for a balanced multiannual financial framework, a common view on migration policy and a reform of the Economic and Monetary Union taking into account every member state's own responsibility of sound economic policies.
How has the Finnish presidency navigated the political arena of priorities and challenges so far? Moreover, what can we expect from the second half of its term? Our next liberal breakfast aims to shed light on this and many other questions, so join us for a discussion with our distinguished speaker!
