A rising populist tide in Europe: Can liberals overcome the populist wave?

A glimpse at recent news shows that there is a recurring dangerous phenomenon of populism discourse increasing throughout Europe. This Liberal Breakfast will not only delve into the consequences and the development of post pandemic populist discourse, but also on the solutions Liberals can use to address this systematic threat to the European Union’s fundamental values.

The event will look at recent news and perspectives from across Europe, including France, Poland, UK and more. Subsequently, it will address the violent attacks that have been surging across the continent and the particular brand of populism that is popping up in response to the current Pandemic. Overall, this Liberal Breakfast will aim to better comprehend the success factors the worrying populist trend and the mechanisms which lead it to gaining public support in some of the Member States of the European Union as well as the liberal answer to these challenges.
