The ALDE Party Council meeting convened on 18 November, bringing together the ALDE Party Bureau, member party delegates and liberals from across Europe to discuss some of Europe’s most pressing challenges, the liberal response to the current global situation, and other key agenda points.
New membership requests were discussed during the Council, with two new member parties welcomed as full members of the ALDE Party family: Dimokratiki Parataxi from Cyprus and Голос/Golos from Ukraine. Welcome!
Moreover, ALDE members Iniciativa Liberal (Portugal), ANC (Armenia), Civic Position (Ukraine) and Nowoczesna (Poland) transitioned from full to affiliate membership. Partit Demokratiku (Malta) was disaffiliated by the Council.
The Council also held a discussion on the political situation in Estonia, as well as on other election updates and political developments from around Europe.
The ALDE Party Bureau had proposed two resolutions to the Council, one on the COVID-19 pandemic and other on the Conference on the Future of Europe. Both resolutions were adopted by the Council.
During the Council meeting, the mandate of ALDE Party Secretary General Jacob Moroza-Rasmussen was also renewed.
The next Council meeting will take place in the connection with the ALDE Congress in 2021.
