On the 23rd of August, the inaugural Crimea Platform summit was held in Kyiv, Ukraine. The ALDE Party supports this platform and urges the European Commission and its partners in the Council of Europe and NATO to restore Ukraine's territorial integrity. Since 2014, the ALDE Party and elected officials from member parties have supported Ukraine’s efforts to restore its territorial integrity.
The ALDE Party has passed several resolutions supporting the right of territorial integrity of Ukraine. As things stand, the ongoing aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine has resulted in thousands of victims and millions of internally displaced persons, as well as the persecution of ethnic, religious, and political groups of Ukrainian citizens.
As liberals, we condemn the violation of fundamental human rights and freedoms in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine by Russian authorities. The European Commission must strengthen the political pressure on the Russian Federation until the restoration of Ukraine's sovereignty, and territorial integrity is complete.
Europe's liberals will continue to stand firm with Ukraine and fight for every Ukrainian's freedom and independence against Russian aggression and human rights and freedoms abuses.
