The ALDE Party has financed part of its Congresses the last years with participation of the private sector. This has always been very minimal and done in the most transparent way, and fully in accordance with the European Regulations.
Today however, following debates in France and other countries, the ALDE Party has decided to end this.
ALDE Party President Hans van Baalen MEP said:
“The participation of the private sector was used to finance part of our congresses in order to give more people the possibility to participate. Companies were offered opportunities to organise exhibition stands. Unfortunately, this has been interpreted as active political influence. To end all confusion, today the ALDE Party has decided to end all corporate sponsorship.”
