Last Saturday 10 October, ALDE Party President Hans van Baalen congratulated the President of Taiwan Tsai Ing-wen on the National Day of Taiwan, wishing the people of Taiwan good health and peace as well as international cooperation and being recognised as participant in multinational organisations, such as the World Health Organization (WHO) and the World Health Assembly (WHA).
The European Union and its Member States should ensure that Taiwan is invited to attend the resumed 73rd hybrid session of WHA, scheduled to take place from 9 to 14 November.
Taiwan has been very successful in containing the spread of the COVID-19 while maintaining the rule of law and ensuring functioning economy. With the EU heading to a second wave of the pandemic, we will need Taiwan’s experience.
On Saturday, I congratulated President Tsai Ing-wen on the #TaiwanNationalDay . Thank you for your support in fighting Covid19 and your promotion of freedom and democracy! 🇹🇼 🇪🇺@iingwen @liberalinternat https://t.co/PubsS9zZyE
