Bart Somers, award-winning Mayor of Mechelen and President of the ALDE Group in the Committee of the Regions (ALDE-CoR), shared his experience on combatting radicalisation and extremism at Radikale Venstre Congress on 5 January.

Known in Belgium and abroad for his successful policies on welcoming refugees, integrating immigrants and fighting radicalisation, Somers believes that similar success could be replicated in Denmark.

Somers reminded the audience: “Freedom and diversity are not opposing one another, they are inseparably connected.”
